Josh Bernstein, of the History Channel's Digging for the Truth series, invites Bubba and Eric Dufour for his second powered paragliding episode, Searching for the Lost Colony of Roanoke!

The weather was foggy, but began to clear about an hour later.  Josh and I ascended through tattered wisps of these ground clouds and were able to get a bird's eye view of the area.  What impressed me most was how many directions the colonists could have gone and how terribly thick the vegetation was.  It would have been a very slow and arduous trek in any direction.  DNA samples were taken from the local Indians and from the descendants of the original colonists to see if they are related.  You'll have to watch the show or buy the DVD to find out what the results were.

Powered Paragliding with Paratoys at the Salton Sea in Southern California Fly-in! - Huge Success again!   Click here to get the FREE DVD!
February 2005

This is what every Fly-in should be like!  Lots of great people.  Huge launch area.  Super weather.  Miles and miles of beach.  Incredible scenery!  I could go on and on.  This is one of my top three favorite events.  There were seven RV's in our caravan from New Mexico, Colorado and Canada.

Can you believe these colors??!!  Powered paragliding the Salton Sea in Southern California is like another planet.

Powered Paragliding Treasure Island Fly-in at Saint Petersburg, Florida in January
Weather in Arizona wasn't warming up fast enough for Jeanie and me, so we hopped a jet to Florida.  I didn't take my own unit with me.  I bummed equipment the entire time.  PPG pilots are some of the most generous people you'll ever meet.

The weather in St. Petersburg was cloudy most of the time with a land breeze, so the flying was minimal.  Also, nobody was allowed to foot drag or fly low over the beach.  BORING!!  I probably won't go again unless the Gators (the local club) finds a better place with less restrictions.  The best part of the fly-in was getting to hook up with Jeff Goin and Eric DuFour again.

Powered Paragliding in Rock Point, Mexico Xmas 2005

If you've been following my adventures, you know that when it snows in Colorado, Jeanie and I head South.  This year we headed straight for Mexico.  The weather was warmer, but not as warm as we hoped.  Still we got a couple of nice days of beach coasting.  Rocky Point is rapidly losing it's open beaches and RV parks.  Our friend, Jim, has bowed to the pressure and sold his La Jolla De Cortez RV Park so another beach condo/hotel can be built.  He's already flanked on both sides with new high rise buildings.  Next year we may have to find a new place.  We're going to check out El Golfo further up the sea below Yuma, AZ before we return to Colorado in June.
